Circle The Date
1/15: vs Lakewood - Pinelands had a win streak that extended before the creation of this site snapped by the Piners last season. They look for revenge as part of a quad at Red Bank Regional.
Another program with a great turnout this season, as the numbers are the highest they've been in over a decade. There are not a lot of seniors in the room, so it is a young team, but it is a team that has put in the work in the offseason and is aiming towards big things in 2019.
Although youthful, the Wildcats do have some good experience returning in the lower half of the lineup. Hayden Jeannotte (11-12) and Sam Cardillo (10-10) provide senior leadership and are both capable of hitting the 20+ win mark. Also back for Pinelands are returning starters Travis Brown (14-16) a junior, and sophomore Bryce LeFevre (8-14). Also back is junior Olivia Mena, who saw varsity time as a freshman. It's a healthy dose of experience down low to help break in several underclassmen around them, and has the potential to be a good strength for this team.
Evan Burton missed most of last season due to injury, but managed to come back in time to finish 3rd in the District. He will be the senior anchor up top for the Wildcats. Among the other returners are junior Avery Maski, who enters his 3rd year as a starter, and fellow John Morrin, who is looking to have a breakout year.
As mentioned, the numbers are way up for Pinelands, and the team is coming off a strong offseason where they have put in the work towards getting the program to the next level. There were some issues with injuries last season, and if the team can avoid the injury big this season, the potential is here for a balanced lineup that should be capable of getting on the plus side of the .500 mark.
